The EL-50448 TPMS Tire Pressure Sensor Activation Tool allows for correct resetting of the tire pressure system on GM vehicles equipped with 315 or 433 MHz tire pressure monitoring systems. After rotating the tires, replacing the remote door lock module, or replacing a tire pressure sensor, a "Sensor Re-Learn Procedure" must be performed. This can be easily accomplished using the special EL-50448 tool.
The tool also works on GM models from 2014 onwards. The tire pressure sensor on models from 2012 onwards can only be read with certain specific diagnostic tools. Before the tire pressure monitoring system functions normally, the vehicle's body control module will record the ID information from each tire pressure sensor position. The steps to read the tire pressure sensor after changing tires or a wheel speed sensor are as follows:

How to use the EL-50448 TPMS Activation Tool:

Step 1 - Enter Learning Mode: Put the gear lever in "P". Turn the ignition key to "ON". Enter the tire pressure display interface through the DIC. The DIC will show "Press Set / Ctrl to re-learn". Press "Set / Ctrl". The turn signal light will illuminate for 3 seconds and the horn will sound twice to indicate learning mode.

Step 2 - Read Tire Pressure Sensor Information: Start with the front left tire. Hold the J-46079 or EL-50448 diagnostic tool antenna against the valve core position and close to the rim on the tire sidewall. The EL-50448 tire pressure tool is activated with the start button. The tire pressure sensor information is successfully read when the horn sounds once.

Step 3 - Read Other Tire Pressure Information: Follow the instructions above to read the tire pressure on the front right, rear right, and rear left tires. The turn signal light will illuminate for 3 seconds and the horn will sound twice when learning is complete.
For some vehicles equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPM), a "Sensor Re-Learn Procedure" must be performed after tire rotations, remote door lock module replacement, or tire pressure sensor replacement. This re-learn procedure can be performed using the special EL-50448 tool.
