TPMS Reset Tool – TPMS-19 / 8C2Z-1A203-A for Ford
A convenient and reliable tool for activating and training Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensors on Ford vehicles. Replaces original tool TPMS-19 (OE: 8C2Z-1A203-A). Perfect after wheel changes, sensor replacement, or rotation when the TPMS warning light is on. The tool is used against the tire sensor near the valve area to trigger transmission and initiate learning in the car's BCM.

Manual – How to Train TPMS Sensors (Ford)
Preparations
- Park the car safely, engage P/neutral, apply parking brake.
- Ensure good battery voltage (avoid low voltage during the procedure).
- Have the tool at hand. Stand at least 1 meter (3 ft) from other vehicles with TPMS to avoid interference.
- If the car has been stationary for >30 minutes: roll the vehicle or spin the wheels to wake sensors from sleep mode.
Activate Training Mode in the Car
- Turn ignition to OFF, press and release the brake pedal.
- Turn ignition OFF → RUN three times, ending in RUN.
- Press and release the brake pedal.
- Turn ignition to OFF.
- Turn ignition OFF → RUN three times, ending in RUN.
Confirmation: A horn chirp will sound and the TPMS light will flash. If equipped with a message center, TRAIN LF TIRE will display.
Training Order & Activation (LF → RF → RR → LR)
- Place the tool against the left front tire sidewall next to the valve. Quickly press the test button repeatedly until the horn sounds (may take up to 6 s). Keep the tool against the sidewall throughout the activation.
- Within 2 minutes: repeat for right front, then right rear, and left rear.
- Once the last wheel is complete, the center display (if applicable) will show TIRE TRAINING COMPLETE.
If Something Goes Wrong
- If the horn chirps twice when the ignition is turned OFF afterward, the training failed. Repeat the procedure from the beginning.
- Ensure you follow the order LF → RF → RR → LR and that each wheel is trained within 2 minutes of the previous one.
Important Notes
-
Sleep Mode: If the car/wheels have been stationary for >30 minutes, sensors enter sleep mode. Roll the car briefly to wake them.
-
Interference: Only train one car at a time and maintain distance from other vehicles with TPMS.
-
Different Tire Pressures Front/Rear: Ford F-Series and E-Series often require retraining after rotation to prevent the light from coming on.
Quick Troubleshooting
-
No horn signal upon activation: Hold the tool closer to the valve's sidewall; press several short pulses; wait up to 6 s.
-
Training mode does not start: Repeat the ignition sequence carefully (OFF→RUN×3, brake, OFF, OFF→RUN×3). Some models require the door closed, seatbelt fastened.
-
TPMS light remains after training: Drive the car briefly so sensors update pressures; also physically check tire pressure with a gauge.
-
Sensor does not respond: Sensor may be discharged/defective or wrong frequency. Confirm an OE-compatible sensor is used.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do I need to program the sensors in advance?
No, this tool triggers existing sensors so the car can relearn their ID after replacement/rotation.
Does it work with aftermarket sensors?
Yes, if the sensors are compatible with the car's OE specification (frequency/protocol). Check the sensor supplier's information.
How do I know the activation was successful?
Each successful activation is confirmed with a horn chirp. After the last wheel, TIRE TRAINING COMPLETE is often displayed.
Why do I have to redo the training after tire rotation?
Vehicles with differently pressured axles (e.g., F-Series/E-Series) need the correct wheel positions learned for proper monitoring.
Can I use the tool if the car has been stationary for a long time?
Yes, but first wake the sensors by briefly rolling the vehicle or spinning the wheels.
